Displays (First Rev)
I bought a 4x20 character text LCD for displaying song info, etc. Of course it had to be mounted. So I did some more hacking. I made a back plate for it, and a bent plexi panel to cover the old ashtray slot to mount it on a hinge.
Plexi back panel routed for component/connector clearance.
Side view, in place.
This is my 6" LCD television, that is used as my main computer "monitor" with the TV-out feature of the motherboard. This is rail-mounted in the center console so it slides out. More hacking...

Flipping up...

I added the aluminum rod at the bottom, as a hinge pin when the screen slides out. To go with it, I made a metal clip to hook onto it:

Here you can see how the hook catches the rod so the screen can fold down...

And then it looks just like this. Now, this photo is blurry, but the more observant of you may notice the screen ends up upside down. This is OK, because this particular monitor allows you to flip the image both horizontally and vertically so you can mount the screen upside down or right side up, or reverse the image for use with a rear-view camera.
And finally, a shot of the two displays together... In action.
